Seminole Heights Foundation Kick-off Event
If you heard the band and saw the tent and the people, it was the Seminole Heights Foundation’s Kick-off Event on Friday, June 12 from 4 PM to 8 PM at Rivercrest Park. The event was a huge success with well over 125 people attending.
The kick-off event was open to everyone and was an opportunity for the Foundation to introduce itself and its mission. Residents from all the surrounding Seminole Heights areas came, some even sent messages to their neighbors to come an enjoy the festivities. Some residents sat on their front porches and enjoyed the music of the StraightUp Blues Band which performed from 6 until 8 PM.
There was a huge tent for shade loaned to the Foundation by Vick and Gail Davis, many coolers of cold soft drinks and water, chips, and hamburgers and hot dogs cooked under the shade trees by the VFW Men’s Auxiliary. The mounted patrol came and the children (and some of the adults) posed for photos with the horses.
StraightUp Blues Band from Pinellas came and played from 6-8 PM. They played blues and light rock and at the end sang a crazy happy birthday song to Gail Davis whose birthday was the day of the event one of their lead guitarists whose birthday was the day after the event. Some people danced to the music, others just sat back and enjoyed it.
